What a day...

Greet one another with a kiss of love. 1 Peter 5:14

I always, always kiss my children. I kiss and hug them until the point they are embarrassed to be my children. I bring them up as close as possible, squeeze them really hard (or at least until they start laughing) and them kiss them all over their precious little faces, ears, necks, bellies, wherever I can get my lips. All while making crazy noises! They always love it!! and then they say "Againe! Againe! Againe!"

Today I kissed all of them even more, because today I was reminded, once again, how precious their lives are.

Today I tried my best to finish writing out for the insurance company what possessions our family lost in our 2006 house fire; my stomach cramps, my head pounds, my hands tremble and anxiety sets in, yet I have to finish writing.

The whole time I am writing, I say "be THANKFUL, YOU were lucky". I was lucky nobody was home. I was lucky my friend saw what was happening from the beginning and called the fire department. I was lucky my babies were safe. The luck that I have had my whole entire life was used up in this moment. And I am thankful.

As thankful as I am, writing these insurance sheets still sucks. The fact that my Jewish neighbor's house (the neighbor who called the fire department and stayed on the phone with me the whole time things unfolded) is now lit up with Christmas lights, still sucks. The fact that we lost soooo much more than possessions, still sucks.

"be Thankful, You were lucky."

"be Thankful, we were lucky."

"Be Thankful, I have 3 beautiful children with whom we can Greet one another with a kiss of love."
