Almost Here

Halloween is almost here so I thought I would share some photos from Louds Island Maine.  We spent 11 days on this island using propane and wood for our energy source and well water for drinking.  It was quite an experience.  Especially looking at all the headstones of the past inhabitants.  Imagining how primitive their lives would have been was pretty amazing.  The earliest date we found was 1759.
Can anyone explain to me why anyone would have a crooked cross for a headstone?  This headstone was stone so we didn't think it was a mistake.  It was made that way.  Maybe this person "kinda" believed?

Louds Island got its name from the Loud Family who were Lobster Fishers in the 1700's.

An infant headstone is always heart wrenching.  There were many.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!
