The Smoky Mountains are by far one of my most favorite places! So when my parents proposed a trip here, I said YES!
When I graduated college, I took a job in Toccoa, Georgia. Population 9,300. Churches 300. Toccoa (which I always pronounced Taco on accident) was situated in the foothills of the Appalachia mountains. There is really not a more beautiful place than in the woods of these mountains! Immediately, I fell in love with the flora, the simple culture, and the hard working people of the mountains. Fell so hard in love, that I have read almost all of the Foxfire books which describe the lives of the "people of the mountains".
Pigeon Forge, where we are staying, is just as beautiful if you can look past the strip of all kinds of crazy odd places to ride bumper cars, play putt putt and eat!
Our first day in Smoky Mountain National Park brought back delightful memories for me that I wanted to share with my children. I think they enjoyed it!
