It's Official!

I am officially obsessed with Crayola Crayons!  Years ago I found the Crayola Crayon Maker at a craft store on clearance for $5.  The bargain shopper I am couldn't pass it up because I knew there would come a time when we had plenty of broken, nubby crayons that we could use the machine to make new ones.  And so we have!  Lots and lots of them!  My husband had fun using it also!  Trying to decided what color swirly crayons to make really sparked his creative juices!

Making crayons has been so much fun I thought I would try it out myself without the machine to help, just the old fashioned oven.

You can use muffin tins, cookie cutters, candy molds, whatever you like!  Here's how ya do it!
Peel your crayons, break them into about 1 inch pieces, place them in your desired contraption for melting, and them bake them at 275 for about 8 minutes!

Make sure you spray your molds with Pam first and if you are using metal cookies cutters, wrap them in foil on the bottom to keep the wax from running out underneath.  I made my foil lumpy to give the Dinosaurs some texture.  I'm telling you, what you can do with a box full of crayons is limitless!

For some people out there, I realize that this is not new information.  Every set of directions I found online just made me more pumped up to make more crayons!  People have been making new crayons for Years, but this was my first attempt and I have to say: people have probably been making crayons for years because it is so much FUN!

Try it out and let me know what you come up with!

Wow! That really looks like fun. Bet that your crayon-phobic kid will take to these, especially the dinosaurs!

Hi Tracy-
Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's always nice to find another ATK fan who
loves Chris Kimball.
I hope you have fun recipe testing!
